What will feel familiar
- Random matching. One tap pairs you with a stranger.
- Video or text. Talk face to face, or keep it to typing.
- Skip any time. Next moves you straight on to a new person.
- No account. Open the page and start.
What RoomDrift does differently
- Your camera stays off until you start a call. Just opening the site never turns it on, and you can switch it off mid-call.
- Private rooms. Make a room, share a six-character code, and talk with friends instead of strangers — up to four on a call or ten in a text room.
- Built for phones. The layout is made for a phone screen as much as a laptop, and it runs in the browser with nothing to install.
- Chats aren't kept. Messages pass straight through and aren't stored; calls run directly between the two browsers, encrypted.
How to get started
- Go to roomdrift.com.
- Pick Call or Text and tap start.
- Chat, or tap Next to meet someone else.
Staying safe while you chat with strangers
RoomDrift is for adults aged 18 and over. Whoever you meet is a stranger, so treat the chat that way:
- Keep personal details to yourself — your full name, address, school, workplace, phone number and social accounts.
- Skip anyone who makes you uncomfortable. You never have to explain; tap Next or end the chat.
- Don't open links or files from people you've just met, and never send money or passwords. RoomDrift will never ask you for either.
- Assume you could be recorded. The other person can always point another camera at their screen, so don't show or say anything you wouldn't want saved.
